What is the correct way to eat sushi?!

Question: I think you are suppose to use your chopsticks but I'm not positve. I don't want to offend anyone next time I have it.

Sushi is meant to be eaten as a finger food (that is why sushi bars often offer warm towels to clean the hands) but using chopsticks is perfectly acceptable.
Most people eat it in one bite...if you take little bites, you might not get the fullest flavor. Also when eating sushi, be sure to dip the fish, not the rice portion, into the soy sauce!

Well in Japan your supposed to eat it with your hands. It was originally invented as a finger food, just as americans invented sandwiches. But in America we have become accustomed to using chop sticks while eating sushi. If you live in America use chopsticks.

I've heard that you are supposed to use your fingers but I use my chopsticks. Either way I think is better than using a fork!

Stab it with a chopstick, hold it over a flame until well-done, pop it in your mouth.

I have no idea. Most likely, you won't eat it with a fork.

Hands or chopsticks, it doesn't matter. The Japanese do both. Some of them take bites, some pop the whole thing in their mouths. There really isn't a wrong way to eat it. Dip it slightly in soy sauce, or soy sauce with wasabi. The Jaganese do both in that, too.

If your good with chopsticks then why not!

I fight with about 2-3 pieces trying to use chopsticks then I go straight to the hands.

Use your chop sticks and try to get it in all one bite. Taking bites of sushi is REALLY hard and it falls apart. Just do what you're doing. It sounds good.

nigiri can be eaten with fingers. but some who don't realize this may be freaked out and think you're wrong. but they would be wrong.

when eating nigiri dip fish side down in soy sauce, not rice because it will fall apart.

fish that is presented with a sauce does not need to be doused in soy sauce cuz it's already seasoned.

do not mix wasabi with soy sauce. it looks disgusting and it's just completely improper imo.

eat the pickled ginger in between each sushi as it cleanses the palate.

I personally eat the whole sushi roll in one bite...

oh welcome to the world in the millenium...you eat it anyway you like..the people who are now eating sushi are from every step of life..poor... wealthy...from all over the world...just like wines...you drink whatever wine you like...the days of pairing wines with food are long gone....you wont offend me unless you pick it up off the ground and eat it...lol
