A Good Recipe for Bok L'Hong? (Green Papaya Salad)?!
Answers: I'm looking for a good recipe for bok lahong. My husband is cambodian, and he loves it and I want to learn how to make it for him, and can't find a good recipe. Does anyone have one they want to share?
I'm Cambodian and what Desi chef has is not real Khmer bok l'hong.
1 green papaya peel, seeded and shredded
3 or more Thai chili pepper depending on how hot you want it
1-2 tablespoon of fish sauce
1 tablespoon of prahok or shrimp paste both if you want
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 medium size tomato sliced into wedges
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1 lime
Smash the garlic, sugar, pepper in a mortar using the pestle. After its smashed mixed in the papaya and pound it into the garlic, sugar and pepper mixture. After this add in the fish sauce, prahok or shrimp paste, the lime and tomatoes. Pound this together and mix everything together. After this taste to see if there is anything else you want to add in to adjust the flavors.
This is just a rough idea of how to make bok l'hong if you have any questions just email me.
The main thing about this recipes is its adjustable to your taste and pretty much anything goes.
