Unique food for Christmas?!

Question: For x-mas instead of turkey and dressing, I want ethnic food.
I already want to make taquitos and steamed dumplings(pot stickers) What eles would be good? I'm looking for African,Asian and Mexican dishes. Thanks.

Sautéed Lamb with Scallions

This is a Northern Chinese recipe

Ingredients:

* 2 tbsps soy sauce
* ? tsp salt
* 1 tbsp dry sherry
* ? cup oil
* ? lb lean lamb, very thinly sliced
* 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
* 1 tbsp sesame oil
* ? tsp ground Szechuan or black peppercorns
* 2 garlic cloves, minced
* ? lb scallions (2 bunches)

Directions:

1. Mix together 1 tbsp of the soy sauce, the salt, sherry and 2 tbsps of the oil. Add the lamb slices and leave to marinate for 5 minutes. Mix the remaining soy sauce with the vinegar, sesame seed oil and pepper in a small bowl.
2. Heat the remaining oil in the pan. Add the garlic and stir fry for 10 seconds. Add the meat and stir fry until browned.
3. Shred a few of the scallions and set aside for garnish. Cut the remainder into 2 inch pieces and add to the meat together with the vinegar mixture. Stir-fry for a few seconds. Serve hot, garnished with the reserved scallions.

Note: Beef may be substituted for lamb, if preferred.

You could make cous cous and add in red and green bell peppers for African dishes. For an Asian dish try avocado egg rolls with some type of spicy red pepper. Also for a Mexican dish try a lime and strawberry swirled margaritas. These dishes are unique and festive.

Holly Berry, Luci Lui, & Salma Hayek. I guarentee your male relatives would love those dishes...lol.

Tamales are traditional in Mexico at Christmas time. I love enchiladas and the red sauce or green or even better both kinds are festive. Rice pilaf with corn and red & green bell peppers and some hot peppers if you enjoy spice. Or polenta or cornbread. Roast lamb with mint pesto,

any mexican food is really delicious. Try tamales they are an alltime tradition or maybe some shrimp quesadillas, rice, beans, tortillas. Or you can also make tacos (chicken, beef. etc), or my favorite.. Mole... Look online and google some recipes. I'm sure you will find a lot of stuff. Good Luck.

Chinese: Peking duck, steamed fish (I mean, the bigger ones) roasted pork, roasted chicken and/or roasted suckling pig.

Japanese: Different kinds of sushi and sashimi. Don't forget the Japanese soy sauce and wasabi. ;)

Korean: Bulgogi (Korean style barbeque. Usually beef), and kimchi (A must try for first timers. In fact, I always looking for it, whenever I go to Korean restaurants). :)
