Do Jewish people eat pork? I went to summer camp years ago with a lot of Jewish kids, who ate the ham; no milk!

Question: I think you just answered your own question. Lots of Jews, unfortunately, eat pork. The vast majority of Jews do not keep kosher, even if they consider pork "taboo". Going to a non-kosher restaurant and having chicken is no more kosher than eating a thick slab of ham. Treyf is treyf. Religiously-observant Jews, however, do not eat pork, as Judaism forbids it. As for the "no milk" thing, um, well, Judaism prohibits the consumption of meat and dairy products at the same time. But since they were eating ham, I doubt that was the issue. The Jewish kids at your camp were probably just lactose intolerant, or, maybe they just didn't like milk. I can pretty much guarantee you it had nothing to do with them being Jewish.

According to the laws laid out in the book of Leviticus, Jews do not eat pork. They also do not mix meat and dairy products. It sounds like these kids were less observant and chose to observe one dietary restriction out of the two.

You can be Jewish from birth not from being a practicing Jew.

I dated a Jew, who did in fact eat pork. He was reformed and didn't follow many of the rules. It's just like any other religion. Many don't follow the man made rules.

Jewish refers to both a religion and a race as well even though it is rarely ever counted as one but if your parents are jewish and not just by relgion you are jewish as well but not by religion and you can eat pork products like a few famous people on tv like Andrew Zimmern who is on Bizarre foods if you have seen it.

In general, no, but these days many liberal & other sects of the Jewish religion eat pork more & more frequently. It is the strict orthodox Jews who are still against it as well as even storing meat & dairy products together, hence the reason many orthodox or conservative Jews have 2 refrigerators. Many who don't observe the Jewish tradition of eating pork often still don't eat it on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath.

They are not suppose to, but some are not so religious
