Sifted flour-- Sift the flour and then measure out one cup.
Flour sifted-- Measure one cup and then sift.

*Sifting makes the flour lighter so it doesn't compact. There is less flour in one cup of sifted flour than in one cup of flour sifted.

Hope this makes sense!

"Sifted flour" is sifted before measuring. "Flour, sifted" is sifted after measuring.

The difference is minor, but in some ticklish recipes it really does matter.

Best way is to find out for yourself. Take one measuring cup of flour and sift it. Now put that cup of sifted flour back in that same measureing cup. Is it the same? You have one cup of flour sifted and then you have one cup of sifted flour.

You can buy sifted flour you don't have to sift.

NOTHING~ silly!!
