Am mexican, thank God I still live in my country, but I can tell you that the other answers are right, they would like something not mexican.

Chocolate (cacao) is something Mexico gave to the world, if you can find real mexican Chocolate then that is a good gift. Its very hard sometimes roundes others square.

Tamales!

chicken, beef and pork. There is also a sweet tamale with raisins and something else. I don't like that one.

Personally, I think your co-workers will get traditional Mexican gifts from their own friends & family.

Make them something they dont get, something that's special to you and your family. Everyone loves sweets & esp chocolate during the holidays.

I am Indian but grew up here, my parents were 1st gen and we grew up on Indian food. My mom didnt know how to make anything else really. So when we got food from the "outside non-Indian world", we loved it! It was different and special. Our neighbor was Italian and she always brought us a huge tray of Italian baked goods: cookies, pastries..... all these delicious and unique things you could never buy at a bakery and my Indian mom didnt know how to make!

I still remember all those little cookies and pastries years later and still appreciate Mrs. Marcilio for introducing an Indian family to her wonderful food and culture!

one of the rad students where i worked brought in 'mexican brownies', he said they had chipotle in it. maybe look up that recipe

don't make them something that we make "wrong" the recipes you'll get are americanized. so just make something that you'll make everyone else. I've worked with people from central america and made them cookies... they appreciate everything and anything that is done for them!

I agree with Desi Chef, it's always nice to get something different. We have an international sweets & desserts potluck party at work around the holidays, it's a real treat to eat home made desserts from another country. They are so different from the desserts I am used to eating but also just as delicious (sometimes even more so). It's a great and delicious opportunity to try new foods. They will love and appreciate your kind and generous spirit.

Good old Chocolate cup cakes are quick and good. Kids love them. Traditionlists make their own specialties at xmas. I made that ethnic food mistake with French friends, we are all still laughing.

My family is from Puerto Rico and I was born and raised in the U.S. I could get all the traditional American Christmas treats I wanted right where I was living. I really missed and appreciated anything I got that was from a Puerto Rican Christmas recipe.

Go to www.inside-mexico.com/cocina4.htm for some great ideas. Umm... I'm going to try some myself.

I wouldn't worry about what type of food, just some chocolates or gourmet popcorn perhaps.

jimmy d gave a sh1t answer.

Id steer away from getting them something ethnic, it could be misunderstood. If you're doing a food gift then get make them cookies or brownies or cakes but nothing ethnic.

Gift cards to Taco Bell...I see them in there all the time!
