Yes, both of them mean the same. In Telugu it is called as appadam. It has different names in different languages.

yes.......they are the same thing....the crispy crunchy thing....

but they may differ in size or in the spice content...

north indian papad may have adds of pepper, chilly and salt...
but the South Indian papadom have no chilly-pepper in it...its slightly salty........thats all

Yes, in a general concept. Papad may contain seeds (jeera) or something extra in it whereas Papadom is plain. It just varies from state to state. But the purpose for them as a side dish doesn't change.

Basically the same,regional variations ,changes in the base dough ,cereal or pulse flour being the base,left plain or with the addition of various spices ,the taste & texture varies.Popular side dish served with an indian meal,can be fried or roasted, over an open flame ,now even cooked in a microwave .Diet & health concious persons try to avoid the deep fried method.

They are the same, the difference is language (India has many languages). It is known as papad in certain regions and pappadum in mainly the south. There are probably other names for it also.
