and yes, cuban sandwiches have a lot of toppings and all sorts of cheese on it at times =) all good.
I love Cuban sandwiches-usually ham, pork, cheese, pickle heated in a sandwich press. The Torta Cubana is a variation with even more ingredients like turkey, sausage, beef, sometimes shrimp, peppers, lettuce, tomato, avocado. The best I ever ate was in Tampa, Florida. They say that the best Cuban sandwiches are in Tampa or the Miami area due to the large Cuban population and the availability of authentic Cuban bread.
I never tried it but it sounds pretty good.
Sandwich Cubano, as I think you mean, are traditionally made with Cuban bread, (made with lard) ham, swiss, roast pork, a pickle, mustard, and somtimes salami. The bread is also usually brushed in olive oil.
I ate them all the time when I lived in Central Florida. The ones I got (which were made by Cubans) were just flattened sandwiches with ham, pickles, and cheese. There may have been something else in there but not sure since I haven't had one in awhile. They were good though!
"It's got 2 kinds of pig,
Ham and roast pork
A slice of white cheese
as long as your fork...."

"...that wasn't no hero, that was a Cuban Sandwich
Yes. It has a variety of meats, cheeses, usually ham or sausage, swiss cheese, some tomato, lettuce, pickle, mayo, etc. It is pressed/compacted in a machine that flattens the sandwich, like a panini.
