Who else really likes Vietnamese Pho Beef noodle soup? Especially in the winter, this stuff is addictive.?!

Question: Put some bean sprouts on, hoison sauce, hot sauce, mmmm, pretty good meal. I get mine usually with the meatball. And maybe 1 spring roll, the soft kinda spring roll with shrimp in it. This is some good eating. Don't do it too often, but very high in sodium. But 1-2 times a month and I'm good. I live around Seattle, WA, so there's tons of Pho places. Does anyone else like it? And i'm a white guy, so this food wasn't my staple until I tried it like 7 years ago when I was dating a Vietnamese woman. I'm 34 and married to a white woman, however, she isn't quite into some of the exotic cuisines that I enjoy, like Vietnamese, Indian, Thai food, but that's ok, I still go there with Pho buddies or even alone, it's a great way to kill an hour, going to eat some Pho on a saturday afternoon on a rainy day, and read the newspaper. Vietnamese people should move all over the USA, so more people can experience real authentic Pho.

too bad the wife is not into Pho. I have mine with beef tendon, flank steak, meatballs and bile tripe. with all of the garnish (basil, sprouts, sawtooth herb, limes, jalapenos) and sauce ( fish sauce, soy sauce, hosin, siracha. etc.) options that you can put in it the soup is never the same twice. but it is always good. Try it Laotian style with a little sugar.

I love it with rare beef, soft tender thin raw beef slices, just cooked enough through the hot stock over them. I especially love the vietnamese basil, then add bean sprouts and lemon to it. Dip the tender meat slices in the combination sauce of hoisin, fish sauce and hot sauce. It always warms me up in the cold days in Melbourne. Pity your wife doesn't enjoy it as much as we do, she doesn't know what she's missing out! :))

Maybe this is a white guy thing. Beef pho is fabulous. Meaty with fresh sprouts and herbs. Mmmmm. Quite possibly the ultimate comfort food. My new goal is to make the stock from scratch. Quite the undertaking, from what I've read. I've never tried it with tripe (will someday).

The Beef must be a guy thing, because I prefer the chicken.

My mom cooks it but she makes it kind of favor-less../bland it's kind of weird but healthy I guess.

Also, my mom says Vietnamese food made in America doesn't taste "AS FRESHHH" or something, I wouldn't know since I wasn't born there, but apparently there's some difference...

OK beef is NOT just a guy thing I love it and so do all my pho-loving girl friends. Chicken may be healthier but the thinly sliced beef isn't very fatty and it's just so delicious. I'm completely addicted to Pho (even though I'm Caucasian).
Apparently the places that make the stock from scratch use way less sodium than the cheaper pho chains. I just make sure I drink a lot of water all the time.

I just go for plain Pho Thai and then put in all the garnishes, and it still tastes different but yummy every time. I love how the beef cooks in the broth, like what a genius idea!

I agree that more people should experience authentic pho, if not they really are missing out!

Yummy Beef Pho, I like the spring rolls too, & their lemongrass porkchops.

Yep...pho, that's some good stuff, especially with tripe and lots of hot sauce.
