ethnic foods usually are simple and for the masses or poor people. ALL groups have those types of dishes. you are just used to your own and so don't think of it as special. Stews, soups are two basics that all societies use for the most part.Breads too.

Awwww, come on! White Americans have come up with an incredible number of foods, from mundane (cornbread) to crazy (poptarts and those ice cream beads).
And white people in general have a huge number of ethnic food traditions . . . Russians, Croations, Germans, Italians, etc. Those are majority white populations, and have come up with most of the ethnic foods that we eat . . .
That said, I love ethnic foods, too. And don't you think that a Mexican kid is thinkin' . . . "Dang tortillas, I'd rather have a Poptart!"
