What will I do if there is too much salt when cooking?!

Question: depends on what you're making. You can double the recipe leaving out the additional salt. I've also heard you can add a cut up potato and it should absorb much of the salt. Adding some sugar and vinegar can balance the saltiness but there will still be too much salt

If you are eating the food, drink plenty ( and I mean plenty) of water to flush the sodium out of your kidneys

It depends on what you're cooking, but you may not be able to do much.

Well it depends on what you are making... You can add a whole (peeled) potato to a pot of soup. If possible, you can add more of what you are cooking, ie. If you are cooking a pot of greens, just add more greens...

You can try putting potato. It really works.I used it a lot when I first started cooking. Sometimes still do.

If it is a liquid that you are cooking, add a cut up potato or two and they will absorb much of the extra salt - you can either than throw out the potato or leave it in and eat it with the rest of the food - it all depends upon what you are cooking.

I have to agree with most everyone, it depends on what you are fixing, you maybe be able to delute it. If it can't be deluted then it would be better to double the recipe or just dump it and start over.
