Chinese Cuisine...?!
I have to admit that I am partial to Orange Beef and Twice Cooked Pork...
also I'm not interested in a cut and paste recipe from one of the cooking site on the net...
Answers: I'm getting rally tired of the Chinese/American food. What are some authentic Chinese dishes I could try to order?

Many popular/common Chinese dishes in USA (eg. General Tso's Chicken, chop suey, orange beef etc) are actually inventions/improvisations in American Chinatowns, you'll get blank stares if you tried to order such dishes in China & other parts of Asia.
Some delicious (IMO) authentic Chinese dishes include Peking duck, Hong Kong style BBQ pork & braised beef brisket, xiao long bao (soup dumplings), dong po rou (braised belly pork), steamed fresh fish Teochew style, beggar's chicken.
find a chinese restaurant that has peking duck it's out of this world.
You should try the nasty place in my town--ugh. Everything tastes boiled and peppered. I gave them 2 chances and now I put dead squirrels in the fountain out front.
wow Val! Dead squirls! Thats the chicken on a stick here in Texas! Think you just fry that!
My fav. is General Tso's Chicken, a bit spicy but delicious.
Where do you live and how adventurous are you? If you live where there are a lot of Chinese, why not ask around and try to find a place where 90% or more of the customers are Chinese and order something you've never tried before? Peking Duck is a safe bet (you want to take a friend with) but what about a dim sum brunch? Hey, how about a bowl of beef noodle with hand made noodles? Pig's ear? Cows toung? Tripe? Start slow and have fun.
idk,i'm kind of partial to the chinese/american food.and since i'm allergic to shellfish,my selection is not very big.but as a few others have mentioned i love myself some General Tao Chicken.
order some potstickers, hot & sour soup, peking duck, mardarin beef, or beef with bok choi. I also agree that going to dim sum for lunch is a great way to be introduced to some very adventerous eating. Just make sure it's a reputable place.
If you have a China town near you (most large cities have a China Town area), then go to one of the older restaurants in the area. Some of the best dishes they have are not on the menu. In Seattle, there is a place called China Gate...they have a wonderful dry roast shimp dish, but you have to order it...it's not on the menu.
anything in black bean sauce delicious!! chicken, fish (very tender) scallops. Yum
