Italian antipasto?!

Question: For my school project, I must perform an Italian wedding to be as accurate as possible... what foods can i use as an antipasto for this wedding ceremony? I've already considered cheese, and I was wondering if carrots&celery with dip is a bit too "American".
Please tell me if this would be accurate for an Italian wedding!
THANKS

Yes, carrots & celery are a bit too American. Cheese is more likely to be served in a cheese course at the end of the meal rather than in the antipasto.

Here is a great link for you. It is about the traditional Italian wedding and even has a section describing the antipasto. "Antipasto includes delicacies auch as stuffed mushrooms, olives, salami, pickled peppers, calamari, capicola, and prosciutto. Sometimes this, or a similar combination, is served on a layer of lettuce and other greens. The dressing is usually olive oil, vinegar, and a bit of basil and oregano."

BTW, you'll want to give out some Jordan Almonds to serve before anything else!

MMM Calimari =) I love Calimari ;p

i think it is supposed to have salami, tomatos, cheese, and lettuce.

When my brother married his Italian wife they had prosciutto with melon - its a classic Italian appetizer

I Would Skip The Carrots And Such..
A Traditional Tray Usually Has..
Artichoke Hearts, Sliced Tomatoes, Green Olives, Kalamata Olives, Pepperoncini, Ham, Salami, Feta, Provolone and Havarti Cheese with crackers and thin sliced bread.

My antipasto tray has:
salami - like genoa - roll it up
Proscuitto - roll it up
provolone or thin slice mozzarella - roll it up
black olives
tomato wedges
artichoke hearts (come in jar or can in oil)
hard boiled egg wedges
pepperoncini (the small yellow hot pickled peppers)
green pepper rings
red onion rings raw
Over this I pour a dressing made of oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, oregano, parmesan, ground cheese, ground black pepper all shaken together.
You can put everything down on romaine leaves for presentation

It is very good with something for everyone

Yeah, the carrots and celery are too American, so skip that....An Italian Antipasta can be made 2 different ways......1-is with lettuce, mozzarella cheese chunks, pepperchinis, tomatoes, onions, olives, ham pieces, bellpeppers and Italian salad dressing. / 2-spiral pasta noodles with chunks of cheese, chopped bellpeppers, olives, tomatoes and italian salad dressing. Other ideas for an Italian wedding food are long stick pretzels wrapped with pruscutto (italian bacon), or mini panini's, or even bruscetta's (mini breads with tomato, and basil in vinegar or oil. Well good luck with your project.

Antipasto-
Prosciutto, *Salami, *Pepperoni,Ham, *Provolone, Olives, Mozzarella & roasted peppers served on a bed of lettuce. Roll the cold-cuts and place on the outside of the tray. Serve with Breadsticks.
You can use basicaly any cold-cut you like as long as you use the ones that are * * *
Presentation is the KEY!
