Rasam or Mulligatawny soup.

Any Indian shop should have ready made ot can be instantly made version.

Rasam

Its called 'Rasam' if it was like a clear spicy soup.If you could see cut vegetables and the consistency was thick then it was 'Sambhar'.

The name you are looking for is 'Rasam " ,you are right with the ingredient ,the watery base is Dal,well watered down & a tamarind extract , a must in south Indian cuisine to round off a meal, also considered to be a digestive aid .
