It really did came from General Tso. He didn't invent the dish, but he added peanuts and some hot sauce to it. I guess back then, every brown noses must have kissed his behind by saying, "That's wonderful, General! We have never thought of improving the dish the way you did."
Thus, his name was put on to the dish.
I don't like it much, though.
