How do you eat sushi?!

Question: I have been eating sushi for a while and am decent with chop sticks. However, sometimes the pieces are huge! I can't take just one bit. It's too big. I want to cut it, but there isn't a knife on the table. If I just take a bit, the whole thing falls apart. What do you do?

In Japan, it's either or. You can use chopsticks but you can also use your hand. Frankly, I do both. It depends on the sushi piece.

I know how you feel! I love sushi!! I just take the whole thing in my mouth at once.

Dill Weed agrees with the sugarpacketchad character. Just stuff it in.

maybe you should try turning it vertcal on it's side so it won't be as thick. hope it works : )

Definitely ask your server for a fork and knife. No harm done! Also, it's perfectly acceptable to take it with your hand and then take a bite.

Usually when i eat i stuff the whole thing in my mouth so that i can taste all of the ingredients in the sushi. they create a very special flavor when all the ingredients is mixed. if i take the sushi apart, they taste very different. if the piece is too big for me to stuff into my mouth, i would have to break it into two pieces and stuff them in my mouth at different times while some of the first piece is still in my mouth. so i can create that flavor. thats how i eat my sushi..~ ^.^

Turn it sideways and take it in two bites. If the sushi is fresh the nori wrapper will be crisp and no trouble to bite into. I have trouble if it's not fresh and the wrapper is kinda rubbery.

Okay... so I had the same problem for a long time, and I finally figured out how to solve it.

You flip it so that it is wider and thinner when it enters your mouth.

If there is rice on the outside, then the seaweed will be a bit soggier.

No harm done!!! All you need to do is take half into your mouth, but let the seaweed of that half slip back out, so you only get the fish on the first bite. Now, you're left with half a piece of sushi, and a little extra seaweed!!!

Piece of cake (or should I say sushi!!)

Good luck and i hope this helps!!
