Is there something I can substitute for pine nuts in a recipe?!

Question: It really depends on the recipe, but usually chopped walnuts are a prettyy good substitute. The texture is tender, like pinenuts, and the flavor is mildly sweet.

unsalted shelled sunflower seeds.

Almond slivers work well. Also pacans. And pistachios are so wonderful to cook.

blanched almonds roast them in an oven intil brown or definately pistachios. but it depends what the recipe is eg. salad, pesto, pasta?

If I'm making pesto, I use walnuts. Just be sure that if you use walnuts in pesto that they have had the skins removed. The skins are bitter and detract from the taste the sauce.

On salads, I use slivered almonds, chopped hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts.

A lobster. Lobsters go well with any substitutuion.

They have a specific taste to them, but I agree you can prob sub chopped walnuts.

I have substituted raw walnuts for pine nuts in pesto with good results.

I prefer walnuts. Depends on what you are making too. I sometimes use walnuts when making Italian food. For other cooking or baking, you can experiment with other nuts. I prefer the flavor of pecans for baking.
