Pinikpikan is a dish from the mountains of the Cordillera region in the Philippines.

It is prepared by beating a live chicken with a stick to prior to cooking and it is a sick act

Pinekpekan is a dish that starts with beating the animal to be cooked (chicken, dog, pig or carabao) with sticks to form hematoma (coagulated blood) under their skins while still alive.

It is part of a religious tribal ritual, often done to cleanse a building site of evil spirits, or to drive away ghosts. In these instances, the animal's throat is slit and blood is allowed to flow unto the building or site that's being excorcized.

In the Philippines, dog eating and the slaughter of dogs for food is now illegal, except for religious and tribal rituals.
