Is sushi worth trying?!
Answers: Lately in a foreign language/culture class we've been studying Japan and Japanese culture. And, I've had a really huge craving for shushi after seeing it repetitively. I've never had it before but it looks so good, but with all of the talk of 'eww raw fish!' I feel like I should forget it. Is it worth trying?
Yeah! I believe that almost anything is worth trying. I eat the cheap sushi like California Rolls and they are SO good so I'm sure that the real thing taste even better! I've heard it's really good and I had some when I was younger, so yeah, give it a try. (You don't have to get sushi with raw fish, plus those people who are like "ewww!" are just afraid to try something new. Be the one to tell them "I ate raw fish, so what?")
Start with the rolls before you try Sashimi (sp?). It is an acquired taste but definitely worth trying. Make sure you go to a good restaurant to get it though. Not a grocery store.
it sure is worth trying. go get it at nanituari or at a clean japanese resteraunt. first try salmon or tuna. these are the best ones!
only if you can handle weird textures sliding down your throat
When I first tryed sushi it was one of the greatest foods I have ever tried. So to answer your question it's usually based one the person but, yes I think sushi is really worth trying and hopefully you like it. Peace!!!!!!!!
You may start by trying the tamago sushi, which is nothing but scrambled egg with rice and nori seaweed, flavored with a little wasabi and to be dipped in soy sauce.
Or try the ebi sushi, made with steamed shrimp on rice.
Once your palate gets used to the new sensation of cold rice with hot wasabi, you may graduate to the sushi that contains salmon or tuna.
i think you should try it! :D
I am a huge fan of sushi.
The raw fish is not gross at all. It tastes great. Sometimes it almost doesn't taste like anything. So try it.
But if you are concerned about eating raw fish, there are types of sushi without it. Ex. sushi with shrimp (the shrimp is cooked), celery sushi, carrot sushi, etc.
Yes they are!! Start off with a California roll, it has no raw fish but is still made with simuilar stuff as a regular sushi roll, ie: seaweed, avacado, cucumber. Then go to a raw tuna or salmon roll. Those I think are easier to stomach for a new taster.
Good Luck and Happy eating!
Absolutely! (And sushi doesn't have to be raw.)
Go to a really good sushi bar with someone who knows.
California roll is a great starter. Try tuna, salmon hand roll, spider roll, and eel. Expect to pay more than you imagined.
It's definitely worth trying. Try several different things, because you might not like it all. Go with someone who knows a little bit about sushi, so they can help you pick. Plus, it's no fun to eat alone.
I love sushi, it's delicious.
PS If you end up liking it, ignore the people who say "eew, raw fish!" Also ignore the people who tell you you're only eating it because you think it's sophisticated...
sushi = awesome! try the veggie rolls at first.. anything made with the crab meat too as it is cooked.. then go for the raw stuff.. gradually you will love it!
its really good. sushi isn't all raw fish, their is some that has crab meat in them and other stuff. its worth it.
never tried it and it doesnt look appealing to me. i wouldnt eat it after id been on the booze thats for sure.
Yes. I was scared to try it the first time, but went for it after a bit; It is actually better then I expected.
In your quest to open your mind and try a new type of food... perhaps you should visit San Francisco. It is my home town, and truly boasts the best sushi restaurants in the US. Yes, it's worth a try, but I have a tough time eating Sushi at an inland restaurant like Idaho or Montana. That might not be an authentic place to try.... Point being, make sure you eat sushi at a restaurant that brings in fresh fish daily. There's quite a difference between fresh sushi and not so fresh sushi.....
If you've gone through a proper Japanese class, you would have learnt that sushi & sashimi are 2 different things.
Sashimi is the one that serves slices of raw fish, but it has to be super fresh. 99-100% of the raw fish you see on your regular supermarket shelves are not considered sashimi-grade. People who have never tasted good sashimi do not know what they are talking about in slamming the 'raw fish' aspect.
Sushi is actually anything served on or within vinegared rice. There can actually be even more types of sushi with cooked ingredients than raw seafood. Examples of cooked toppings: shrimps, egg omelette, surimi/crabstick, teriyaki eel, chicken, crabmeat, sweetcorn, smoked fish etc.
The available variety is simply mind boggling, you can eat sushi every day for a few weeks & get to try something new each day. Sushi is also very healthy & extremely low fat. Don't be influenced by baseless negative views, try it yourself & see why even so many Westerners rave about it. Sometimes our bodies just get burdened with the amount of heavily seasoned & heart stopping foods consumed, so be nice to your body & treat it right sometimes with light foods like sushi.
yes its worth the try the first time i tried it i didnt like it then i started getting cravings for it for some reason.and i tried it again and now i love it i recommend the california rolls
You should at least try it once. I enjoy sushi, but my wife does not. You will never know if you like it or not til then. You have to admire the artestry and hard work that goes into each piece.
