Are there any herbs similar to coriander that can be substitued for it in recipes?!

Question: I have an allergy to coriander. I love Mexican and Indian cuisines, but most of the recipes use coriander. Is there something which can be used as a subsitute giving similar flavour results?

Not sure if you are talking about coriander powder or leaves.

You can try the dish without coriander powder and see if you like the taste. Or add a bit of cumin powder (not as much as the quantity of coriander powder)

As a substitute for coriander leaves or cilantro, you can use curry leaves, which are used in most south indian dishes. They are available in many Indian Grocery stores and are a good substitute for coriander.

Just leave it out.

You can omit it, it's not really a dominant flavor in any of those mexican or indian dishes. Cumin and chili powder are really the only big ones that you can't leave out.

I use Basil sometimes and its usualy ok.
Hope this helps.

A combination of fresh flat leaf parsley and basil should be just fine. It's not the same flavor, but it'll be good.

Parsley is the closest.

I think Italian flat leaf parsley comes close to the taste of corriander, plus it has a simular "look" and texture, I've used it in an emergency...and could hardly tell the difference.

I'd go for parsley, which belong \s tothe same family as coriander and is available everywhere.

I like mint leaves...
