What is this dish?!
Answers: Last night my friend made a dish using tomatoes, cilantro,onions,fish and Shrimp (cooked) in Lime juice. I say cooked but not really it was just soaked in it. I asked what it was and now Ive forgotton. Anyone out there able to help and also any variations would be much appreciated.

I was on reserve battery power on my laptop, and only had time to tell you what the name is. My pooter now has a full tummy, so I'll continue. That's pretty much standard ingredients for ceviche. Most also call for a fresh diced jalapeno or serrano pepper and usually oregano. Don't add the cilantro before you "cook" the seafood. Refrigerate while cooking (doesn't that sound strange?), and let it cook for a few hours. You're looking for the seafood to become opaque. Prior to serving, add cilantro and peeled and diced avocado. Serve with tortilla chips.
CEVICHE! It's seafood "cooked" in acid (lime or lemon juice). Very popular in Hispanic cuisine.

It is ceviche. The acid in the lime "cooks" the seafood. In the Philippines, we call the dish "kinilaw" but we use strong palm vinegar instead of lime or lemon. And we add a lot of chili and ginger.
