Has anyone here heard of a Dish called 'LOBBY' ?.......?!

Question: Its a Term my Grandfather used for a kind of Stew ! And what is the difference between a pan of 'Scouse', a 'Stew' or a 'Lobby' or for that matter a 'Hot Pot' ? I've heard of so many different versions of 'Scouse' from Liverpudlians (including 'Blind Scouse' !) that I'm not sure who's got their facts/recipies right anymore.

Both Scouse and Lobby comefrom the word Lobscouse ( Labskaus ) which was the name of a sailor's dish originating in Northern Germany and Scandinavia.

There is no definitive recipe for it, it used to be a stew made up of the stuff which would be available on a long sea voyage ( salted meat and fish, root veg, cabbage ) but now refers to stews with many different variations.

I think Lobby comes from "lob it into the pot" (whatever)...here is two recipes one without meat, another recipe with meat also...
