New England offers a wide variety of food depending on what area you're in. New England is famous for clambakes and seafood dishes. In Boston, there's Chef Jasper White's Seafood Shacks which offers a casual and friendly atmosphere and high quality seafood specialties.. There's also Legal Seafoods, ( a chain but good) which I've visited on several occasions when visiting Boston. I love Scrod so I always seek that dish out and have never been disappointed in it's taste or quality.

In many of the smaller towns in New England you'll find some pretty amazing cooks who prepare monthly suppers for their churches, to raise money. Often they will offer tasty and hearty homemade beans and ham ,and an assortment of pies.

Lots of variety in New England and loads of eateries to visit with varied price ranges.

Well...believe it or not, I'm from a little town called Glens Falls, NY. We have a dive here, called "Dirty Johns" and they are famous for their hot dogs. They are dry-ice shipped all over the world...and when famous people come here for shows or vacationing (we are extremely close to Lake George and Saratoga Springs) they've been known to be spotted in their limos or buses in front of the place.

malabar kanji and curry

Nothing in particular for my area. However,

Memphis = BBQ
Baltimore = Crabs
Seattle = Coffee and Seafood
New York = Pizza and Hot Dogs

I was recently in Chicago and tried Chicago Style Pizza at Gino's East for the first time. I DID NOT like it much at all. Is there another place to try before giving up on Chicago Style Pizza altogether.

Ky ---We are famous for southern BBQ,fried chicken, catfish, and bourbon.

Philly cheesesteaks and Maryland crabs...I'm somewhere in the middle of the two.

I just moved to East Texas last summer and there are so many mom-n-pop Mexican food restaurants here ... it is just amazing.
The thing is, there are also big chains here, like Papacitas and On The Border and even El Chico. In a town that has authentic Mexican cuisine, how does a place like El Chico stay in business!

But I'm originally from Louisiana (northern, not New Orleans with its Cajun food), and over there they do catfish like nobody's business.

I have lived in Texas and Wisconsin.

Texas - BBQ and Tex Mex
Wisconsin - cheese, cheese, more cheese

I am from southeast Louisiana, we have the best food in the world. What people that are not from around here think of as Louisiana food is spicy dishes such as Jambalya, etuffays.
creoles, gumbos and sauce piquants. Acctually the area I am from has lots of Italians and rednecks. The Italians are Sicialian, so we get good dishes from them. The rednecks (southern Mississippi influence) has what has been termed as "soul food", such as red beans and rice, grits, mustard greens, etc...

I grew up just south of Buffalo, NY so naturally there are the famous Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings (ate there many times in the college days). We are also big on beef on wick, fried bologna and onion sandwiches, near enough to have Rochester White Hot hot dogs when we want them.

Within the 15 miles of where I grew up we have Lakewood, NY which is home to Davidson's Restaurant - the home of the enormous fish fry - planning to take my hubs there in a couple weeks, (he's a Welshman and we live in London). I want him to try the best "fish n chips" he'll likely ever enjoy from any side of the Atlantic!

Great question - cheers

Couple things... i' from Flint, Michigan ( rated nr. 3 most dangerous city) and we are famous for

- Flint Coney's... they even sell kits to go at the airport
- Middle Eastern Food, lots of it here

Beans and Greens
