My girlfriend just made breakfast burritos, is this what Mexicans eat for breakfast?!

Question: Or is this an American creation?

Answers: Or is this an American creation?

Not Mexican food. I've listed a link for an article from the latest edition of Time magazine that talks about "American-Mexican" food being marketed to Mexico through Taco Bell chains. Some ethnic foods have gone full circle. From the country of origin to the US-altered and then back to the original country as an American food. Japanese sushi is doing the same cycle right now.

no not really i dont know why people call it like that i find it racist to me

Mexican yes, but its tourist Mexican not authnatic.

American creation. There was no such thing as a buritto until just recently (30-40 years).

Actually there is a form of a burrito in Mexico but it carries no meat and eggs at all.

The traditional form of a burrito carries a flour tortilla with beans Oaxacan cheese and some salsa. Maybe something other condiments of stuffings depending on what part of Mexico you are in.

The one that most Americans know as burritos are more of a Tex-Mex form of the traditional one.

This is from the American Southwest rather than Mexico. A "traditional" Mexican breakfast runs more to rolls and hot chocolate.

It is an American creation with the Mexican basics.. Much like the way we now have "wraps" available at Subway. It's completely American.. but we use Tortilla's.

idk
i gesss not mayb

It not an authentic Mexican dish.
