Why is it that the English love tea?!
Answers: Just curious. But, I have many friends and family in the UK. Most of them drink tea. Why is that?
england had a vast empire in the east and traded extensively with asia, where tea comes from. less so with africa, the origin of coffee. americans drank tea almost exclusively untill the revolution, then we switched to coffee so that we would not have to trade with england. english taxes on tea and other imports were a signifigant cause of the revolution. boston tea party anyone? at that time coffee cultivation was begining in the new world.
I think that it is because they are raised with it right from the start....and if you do start drinking it you learn to love it just like everything else. I just started drinking a nigh time tea to help me sleep. I have only been drinking it for about a week (and have always hated tea) but believe it or not, I'm starting to like it look forward to drinking it - and it helps me to sleep.
High Tea time.....high tea,low English, low tea, high English. When you say TEA,it's English.(it's only my sense of humour,i know that tea is originally from,Sri Lanka,India)we also love tea here in Switzerland.
in america, us southerners love tea...... but it has to be SWEET and ice cold. it isnt just english, but i know what you mean.
I don't know why - we just do! Maybe because we are brought up with it...it's is nice and relaxing though!
