do you think they have a dog bred called the "chow",for no reason???i read at one time the emperor had 5000 chow dogs as food, sharpies were the fighting ,guard dogs.
I don't think they eat rats, but I'm pretty sure they do eat dog and cat.
I am pretty sure they dont but they eat duck, goat, lamb etc..
But i know the Philippines eat dog
Korea eats dogs from what daughters boyfriend stationed there told her last week
Yes,you can get them from venders on the streets. Ask anyone who's been in the armed forces over there.
Humans eat what they can to survive. Sometimes it happens to be things in one country that may or may not be common to eat in other countries.
Some cultures forbid eating pigs, others cows.
The answer to your question is, yes. Come people in China and other countries such as France, Switzerland, United States, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand... in fact, wherever there are humans, you can be sure someone has done it. Just because they're not from Asia doesn't mean they don't do it.

Dogs yes but not as much as in Korea, Vietnam, Phillipines.
Modernly in China, no not openly at least, except for in cases of famine or poverty. Only Korea has places that openly sell dog meat and thats because there is a market for it there, where they actually raise the dogs for consumption and there are specialty restaurants that serve it.
Think about raising cats and dogs, both are carnivores, all farm animals are herbivores for a reason, they are cheaper to raise. The poverty stricken may eat them in times where there is nothing else to eat, but that's true any where not just in Asia.
Chinese do eat rat, cat, and dog meat, but Dog is more oftenly eaten in Korea, in the Phillipines and Vietnam it's the same.
I worked with a man from Laos at one time. I asked him if they ate dog in Laos. His eyes got a smile in them as if remembering a nice event and he said, "Yes, but not just any". He said they were the dogs with the loose skin that in America are called Char pei. I asked him if I went to Laos if I might order this by pointing to a menu and not knowing what I was ordering. He stated, "Only in the finest of Restaurants. It is usually served at important family events such as weddings." I asked if he had eaten it. He said yes. I asked him if it tasted good. He got that smile in his eyes again and said, "Yes, very good and tender."

Once you leave the USA or the UK (?) local food diet can be centuries old and include any animal fish or bug..
So what ????
Yes and cats! i tink....ha
Yes, but more commonly in some other Asian countries. There are many cultures that also eat bugs on a regular basis. In our culture it seems repulsive to many people. Some cultures find the foods we eat disgusting also. It is what we are taught as to whether it is acceptable or not.
