In California, I find it in all of my grocery stores. I shop at Trader Joe's a lot, and it is there with the condiments. I also love their wasabi mayonnaise. Yummy.
For the real thing, go to a Chinese/Japanese market and they will have it. I have ordered it from my Japanese grocery store when they were out of it. Good luck.

wasabi is processed horseradish. go to a japanese grocery store.
