Which country (other than Canada/U.S.A.) do you think has the best food?!

Question: A friend hosts theme-dinners and is always looking for ideas. What are some of your favourite dishes from your country of choice?

Answers: A friend hosts theme-dinners and is always looking for ideas. What are some of your favourite dishes from your country of choice?

For the past several years, I have held a dinner party where my guests and I bring favorite dishes from around the world - there have been very few that did not go over well

My personal preference is for Vietnamese and Brazilian. But, I also love Greek, Mexican, Chinese.

Vietnamese, I recommend
Ph? Tái, Chín N?c - Noodle soup with eye round steak and well-done brisket.

Ch? Giò - a fried imperial roll, with minced pork and vegetable. These are all rolled up with rice paper and deep fried and served with (nuoc mam) a mixture of sugar, nuoc mam, vinegar, chili paste, and some strands of sliced carrots.

Bún Th?t N??ng Ch? Giò
Grilled Pork and Fried Roll served with thin vermicelli noodles and vegetable.

Banh Mi Thit -Vietnamese baguette, French bread containing paté, Vietnamese mayo, different selections of Vietnamese cold cuts and deli (a large variety, most commonly with ham, head cheese, and a Vietnamese bologna), pickled daikon and carrot, cucumber slices. Often garnished with coriander, black pepper.

Brazilian, I recommend
Rice and beans - an extremely popular dish, considered basic at table.

Feijoada - a stew of beans with various beef and pork products

Salgadinhos are small savory snacks. There are many types of filled and fried pastries.
P?o de Queijo ("cheese bread"), a typical Brazilian snack, is a small, soft roll made of manioc flour and cheese.
Coxinha is a chicken croquette shaped like a chicken thigh.
Kibe (or quibe) and esfiha are the salgadinho versions of the Syrian dishes kibbeh and sfiha.
Pastéis are small halfmoon-shaped pastries with a wide variety of fillings.

You would have to have been to the country to really know. What the US has in the form of other countries food is a misrepresentation of foreign foods.

As Japanese or Chinese, totally different in those countries that what we have here. I would imagine all the others would be different as well.

Oh man!! So many: Italian, Polish, Japanese, Mexican!!! I eat more mexican food than mexicans!!

Colombia is got tasty food, I am from Colombia and the patacones, yuca, carne asada, chicharron, arroz con pollo, arroz con coco I think we have awesome food becuase it is tropical and exotic.

Italy and Thailand

Thai or Chinese food!

I love Thai food, (authentic) Mexican food, West Indian food, and real Italian food.

Philippines

Adobo is soo good.. i never get sick of it even if i have to eat it every few days..

Italy, France. I don't think US or Canada has the best tasting food.

The world is full of excellent food!
Exotic or otherwise...
My favourites are France and Belgium, followed by Spain, and Italy... in Europe...
In America... Mexico and the USA.
In Asia...Vietnam, Thailand and Japan
For theme dinners:
Spain can be great...
a Gazpacho soup for starters, followed by a good Paella served with a Sangría and for dessert Natillas...
Greece...
Hoummus, Tzatziki, Boureks, and Dolmadakies for starters, with Moussaka for a main dish, and Baklava for dessert.
Italy...
Several Antipasti, followed by a vegetarian lasagna (or other), a plate of Vitell Tonné and a tiramisú for dessert..
Morocco...
A spicy chicken Tajine with a Taboulé (couscous) salad. and Cornes de Gazelle pastries with mint tea for dessert.
Japan...
Assorted Sushi for starters, tempura and noodles for a main course, and for dessert a fruit salad with oriental fruit (such as litchees, carambola, rambutan, tangerines, etc.)
France (by regions)
Brittany: Moules et des Frites... Mussels in a wine or cream sauce served with french fries (this is also a national dish in Belgium) followed by a tarte au citron for dessert.
Alsace...
A Choucroute simmered in white wine or champagne (almost the same as the german Sauerkraut) served with steamed potatoes, smoked pork chops, and 2 or 3 different sausages with a crème caramele for dessert.
Provence...
Bouillabaise a soup/stew of assorted fish, serve with baguette, follow with more baguette and a platter of french cheeses, for dessert a Tarte Tatin.
USA is also rich in variety...
Try a "Pennsylvania Dutch·" meal
or a "Creole" gumbo followed by shrimp sandwiches and homemade pralines for dessert.
A Texan "Chili con carne" (which is not a mexican dish! It is typically texan) or a texas style barbecue and a pecan pie for dessert.
I could go on for hours!!!
