Interesting foods to try whilst I go away to Paris?!

Question: What food is interesting to try? I know frogs legs and snails would be funny to have a bite of, but anything else. Is there any market stalls with weird french food or anything? :-)

Everywhere you go, in the posh bakeries you will see these little round cakes, usually chocolate or coffee coloured, but some places specialise in every flavour known to man, like lemon, strawberry, rose, hazelnut, vanilla and a dozen others. they are 2 round cookie shaped halves with a cream filling, they are actually macaroons, but they are soft and taste exactly the flavour they are suposed to, and are just divine. la laduree do the best range, they even make wedding cakes out of them!!! They don't look anything special, if i hadn't been told about them i would never have tried one, now I am addicted!!!! i will list the website, it is in french, but you will need the practice!!! OH yes, on set menues you will often see a pepper steak on a cheaper menu, and a Beef steak on a more expensive one. It is rumoured that the cheaper steak is actualy horse which is why the more expensive actually says it is beef. The latin quater is an excellent area to go and have a set menu meal, great atmosphere and very reasonable, gift shops as well. Nice romantic narrow winding streets. Have a fabulous time!!

Some three thousand different cheeses to try for a start.
There is a food market in Paris, be prepared to be amazed.Just try the Plat du Jour in any really small Tabac, the big restaurants are either Algerian, for tourists, or prohibitively expensive. The place to eat is Lyon.

Truffles
Fish & Chips
French Pasteries
Pint of Bitters
Dover Sole

Classic dishes are fish soup, confit of duck.
If you go to the Durer in Rue Yvonne le Tac, Montmartre- have the fixed price menu that has sorbets as a dessert. Le Colonel is a lime sorbet served with a bottle of vodka!! They also serve apple sorbet with calvados and plum with brandy. That is quite quirky.
An excellent resturant, it is very tourist friendly, but we go back there time and time again because we trust them.
Enjoy.

Ordered Tete de Veau (calf heat in vinaigrette) a few years ago, not really to my taste a bit too fatty and a very vinegary dressing but it sure was interesting.

I do recommend a Bresse chicken and also the small local outdoor markets around the city for fresh produce
