Mexican dish for friday..?!
Answers: I am having a mexican themed night at my house friday.. Friends are already bringing enchiladas, spanish rice, tortilla chips with salsa and cheese dip, and margarita mix!! What should I supply.. I was thinking about a bean recipe, or even a trifle for dessert.. Any help please!!
I make an easy bean dip that is easy and is a hit everytime!
2 cans of refried beans
2- 8 ounce packages of cream cheese
a bag of shredded cheddar cheese
spread the cream cheese in a baking dish
then spread the beans on top of that and sprinkle the bag of cheese on top. Microwave or bake or put into crock pot which I do prefer as it will stay warm the whole time. I have also a few times, spread salsa between the cream cheese and the refried beans and added sliced black olives before putting on the cheddar. Also, you can use more or less of any of the ingredients. What I listed is just a base.
My favorite is the rice but i would go with Mini Tacos. (you can buy them at any food mart) I buy mine at Trader Joe's.
7 layer dip
ingredients:
1 3/4 cup Refried Beans
1 1/4 ounce Taco Seasoning Mix
1 cup sour cream
1 cup refrigerated guacamole
1 cup four-Cheese Mexican Blend shredded cheese
1 cup Thick & Chunky Salsa
1/2 cup Diced Green Chiles
1/3 cup sliced green onions
Tortilla Chips
how to make it:
Combine Beans and seasoning mix in small bowl. Spread bean mixture in 8-inch-square baking dish Top With sour cream, guacamole, cheese, salsa, challis and green onions. Serve with chips. Its easy and delicious your guests will love it.
A bean receipe will be great and also provide some type of mexican sause so your guest can have many options
oooh! make some mango salsa! DELICIOUS. tamales are difficult, but wonderful - or ensalada? OR MAKE MOLE!
Rice pudding, milk candies, flan, those would be Mexican desserts, trifle is as brit as it gets.
Margaritas are an offensive stereotype, they're made with tequila, so what? why not try iced hibiscus flower tea, with some lemon juice. In Mexico people drink ice cold beer with a mix that is known as michemix, it has tamarind and chili, it makes the beer taste different. Another favorite is known as German Lemonade, which is lemonade made with mineral water, and beer mixed together, sweetened with light corn syrup. You might opt for tequila, as it should be taken, straight from shot glasses, with some salt and lemon juice. You can also make tequila cocktails with sangrita, a grapefruit, chili mix.
Guacamole. That is bona fide Mexican. Mexicans don't go for cheese dip either, that is American.
Check out the source page, under cerveza you will find info on the Michemix and other interesting Mexican food items.
Go beyond the American stereotypes, be original.
