What Sushi would you reccomend?!
Answers: I have never had sushi before and would like to try it. What would you suxhi lovers reccomend I try first. Please do not reccomend giant clam (I will not eat it on principle) or fugu (too dangerous for my tastes).
The beginner roll is almost always a California roll. I'd also suggest an avocado roll, veggie roll, spicy tuna or salmon, and perhaps some kind of shrimp roll.
I would say try the cooked sushi first such as a shrimp roll (the fried one is good), california roll, or any crab roll. i love any with cream cream. then you can move onto salmon, and other fish. I have yet to try susimi though.
California roll is a good place to start
for your information, fugu is relatively safe, just expensive.
(according to the FDA) the only safe sources of fugu are puffer fish harvested in the mid-atlantic (considered to have little to no toxin), and imported fugu.
"Currently, the only acceptable source of imported puffer fish is from a New York importer, Wako International. This company imports the product from processing facilities licensed by the Japanese government to prepare this product using specially trained fish cutters. It is only imported into the United States on a limited basis under an agreement between FDA and the Japanese government. There is no similar training and certification process for American chefs. Therefore there is an increased risk that puffer fish prepared in the United States and elsewhere will be improperly prepared."

"Puffer fish caught from the mid-Atlantic coastal waters of the United States do not contain these deadly toxins and are considered safe to eat. They are less expensive than imported puffer fish and may be found in markets or restaurants. However, puffer fish caught off the east coast of Florida should not be eaten because the entire fish is potentially toxic."

btw, here's a very outdated list of the 17 restaurants in the USA that served fugu (waay back in 2002)
i'm sure there are more out there these days.

A good beginier sushi is Inari. It's a soy bean packet wrapped around plain rice. I actually thought the packet was pastry at first when I tried them but they are so good!!! Plush it's a good place to start since there is no raw fish involved. Also try carrot or cucumber sushi.
try a spicy tuna roll or a California roll with cream cheese. Once you get a taste of sushi, you will be hooked. I was. Good luck!!
Tamago, unagi and inari.
california roll for a start
California Roll, Kappa (Cucumber) Roll, and Dynamite Roll.
