Mexican Food Restaurants Question?!

Question: I have often wondered?
What do the employee's do with the Chips & Salsa that were not eaten at the table?
Do they put it back in the Mother batch and re-serve it?

IT IS SCARY TO THINK THIS ,
but with the liability,as it is it would be a direct intention to sicken someone with other's germs.
so i would say no ,to your worry ,and if you ever bite into a stale chip simply ask/ and let them know that they aren't fresh ! i'm sure they will take em back !
although we at home do this (leftovers ) and we know we should be more careful , but are not just to save a few pennys, and not toss good food .
but why only mexican restraunts terr?
asian and others have simliar situations ,i mean do you really eat all the rice ,spaghetti, soups, how about those buffets? is it all made fresh daily ???

At the Mexican restaurant I worked at, we tossed everything, including the chips in the garbage. This is actually a good way to have one's restaurant closed down for cross-contamination.

I heard that about certain restaurants and french fries, because "the fryer will kill whatever" on the fries - but I doubt that's true. Double fried fries come out glossy and super greasy.

Any restaurant is supposed to discard uneaten food whether it be the chips, bread basket, food on the plates, etc. Once it's been served it has to go if not eaten. If they don't, that's nasty and they should be cited by the health department.

They are required BY law to toss the garbage...
Their licenses depend on it.
Each licenses costs big bucks..
The business license, liquor license, and health certificate..
