What is this chinese dish? can I have the recipe for it?!
Answers: my aunt went to singapore and when she came back, she cooked for us this dish that she learned there. she doesn't know what its called, she just knew how too cook them- too bad I forgot to ask her how. it has fried tofu, curry powder and celery. you have the option of making it spicy or not. that's all I know......It tastes great!!!
Singaporean Tofu & Celery Stir Fry
Ingredients
1 package extra firm tofu (any brand & type)
16 1/2 ounces of white rice
2 cups celery
1 medium onion, sliced (optional)
1 tbsp curry powder
2 tablespoon peanut oil (or any oil)
crushed red pepper flakes, optional
soy sauce to taste
Directions:
Wrap the Tofu in a paper towel or cheese cloth and let sit for about 1 hour (this will drain most of the water). You don't have to do this. I've used the tofu without straining it at all, just squeezing it a little before cooking works also.
Chop tofu into 1/2 inch cubes, roughly. Heat a frying pan with oil. Toss tofu in. Fry tofu until mostly browned. Then toss in the celery. Add curry powder. Flavor with soy sauce to taste. Cook for about 10-15 minutes.
At the beginning as the tofu is cooking start the rice. I have a rice cooker so I use that. If you don't have one just follow the instructions on the rice package. When the rice is done cooking, serve.
Serves: 6-8
