Usually they serve sweet & sour pork/chicken along wth pineapple fried rice here in Malaysia.
- black soy sauce meat dish goes along well too.
- it goes well with stir fried garlic & chili egg plant ( a fav. of mine)

Grilled Chicken or Pork...

Shrimp, chicken or pork all go well with it, serve it in hollowed out pineapples if you want to make it look spiffy =)

COCONUT SHRIMP

Canola or safflower oil, for frying
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt, eyeball it in palm of hand
1/4 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder, available on spice aisle
1 lime
1 cup shredded coconut
2 egg whites
1 pound large fantail shrimp, deveined and peeled -- ask for easy peels at fish counter

Heat 2 inches oil over medium high heat. A cube of bread should brown in a 10 count when oil is ready.
Season bread crumbs with salt, cayenne pepper and five-spice powder. Cut the lime into wedges and reserve.

Put coconut into one bowl, and the rest of the dry ingredients in another,
Lightly beat the egg whites. Dip shrimp in the egg whites, then coat with the breading.
Dip into egg white again, then coconut.
Fry shrimp 5 minutes in hot oil until evenly golden and crispy. Garnish with lime wedges and serve.

Sweet and sour sauce is nice, some have tried warmed orange marmalade.

Roasted chicken, pork or ham.

Meatballs

diced ham

if its for a varied group of people, id say do a mild general tso's chicken...the sweet pineapple and spicy chicken would be a great combo.
