Answers: My friend invited my over and that is what they do. No forks of spoons. No tables either.

I've had Middle Eastern food served that way, but never Indian,.. and flatbreads were your eating utensils.

Food always tastes better when you eat with your fingers. It is de riguer to eat with only your right hand. Your left is for sanitation. This simple method prevents food poisoning. Enjoy! {:-)

I tried eating with my bare hands, not with indian meals though.lol.

yeh i am english but my stepdad is indian...whenever we go round to my grandparents we do eat at the table but always with fingers...its so much easier..iv just gotten use to it now so great when u having currys...thats y they give u thouse wpie things in indian restaurants

yes it is so nice to eat with fingers , I enjoy a lot

Did cavemen use forks???

well in some cultures you can't eat food with fork and knife think about it! do you eat bar-be-que ribs with fork and knifes? hello?

indian food involves breads that you dip in the curry and you can't eat it with a fork. it is the culture and you should just respect that. it's not like they don't wash their hands before they eat though.

Don't worry... Some food are better to use your hands to eat and sometimes it taste better... try to eat springs rolls with your hands... And they won't serve you soup or something very strange to eat by hands... How do you eat chicken wings? The right way is with your hands...

I eat Indian food daily with my hand (right one, of course) and I even feed my kids too with my right hand! This is very common for both flatbreads and eating rice also.

Some parts of India they see it the norm. to eat with their hands, no utensils...and to be honest its great fun...

But, have you not ever been to a restaurant when your dipping your naan into your curry using your hands is that not the same thing...

When I was a kid and we were in India, my parents used to make me eat with a fork and spoon in all the restaurants while everyone else was eating with their fingers. It was cleaner, of course. But BOY did I want to just eat with my fingers!

At least in the Indian restaurants they had a wash basin and soap in the main area for everyone. You don't see that at home.

I still prefer to eat all food with utensils and not my hands, even when overseas. Forks were invented for a sensible and civilized reason. There's nothing great about eating like the locals do when your hands have been touching dirty money and everything all day long and you have a lower resistance to germs.

Food does not taste better off your fingers, either! hahaha
