heh...its usually cube steak of some type deep friend (like chicken is) and served with white gravy or brown gravy.

It's beef ... it's a tougher cut (usually chuck steak) that is 'cubed' (beaten with a meat mallet until it has 'squares' all over it) and then dipped in flour, a mixture of egg and milk, and 'breading' or flour and lightly fried in about 1/8" of oil (use Canola, and make it HOT before you put the steak in). Chicken Fried Steak is traditionally served with biscuits and 'country gravy' which is made with sausage and sausage grease, flour, and milk. I have a salad with it if I'm having it for supper, or have fruit or fruit juice if I'm having it for breakfast. It's actually a SOUTHERN recipe, but people in the west (and I've lived everywhere on the West Coast) make it just as good, if not better!

It's steak- it’s in one piece, but it’s been cubed to make it tender. The steak is coated like fried chicken and then fried. Very yummy! Usually served with white gravy and mashed potatoes.
