What kind of food do Hawaiian people eat?!

Question: The cuisine of Hawaii is a fusion of many cuisines brought by multi-ethnic immigrants to the islands, particularly of American, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Polynesian and Portuguese origins, and including food sources from plants and animals imported for Hawaiian agricultural use from all over the world.

Many local restaurants serve the ubiquitous plate lunch featuring the Asian staple, two scoops of rice, a simplified version of American macaroni salad (consisting of macaroni noodles and mayonnaise), and a variety of different toppings ranging from the hamburger patty, a fried egg, and gravy of a Loco Moco, Japanese style Tonkatsu or the traditional lu'au favorite, Kahlua Pig. Other traditional favorites include poi, musubi, lomi lomi, poke...

Modern Hawaiian Regional Cuisine utilizes Hawaii’s freshest ingredients of all varieties and incorporates them into wonderfully creative and beautifully presented dishes. Not only has Hawaii Regional Cuisine taken Island dining to the highest possible level, it’s also established Hawaiian grown products as among the finest in the world.

Hawaiian Regional Cuisine may include items such as herb-crusted onaga; green curry Keahole lobster; seared Hawaiian ahi with lilikoi shrimp butter; guava-smoked Kahua ranch lamb; blackened ahi summer rolls; Pahoa corn cakes; gourmet Waimanalo greens and vine-ripened tomatoes.

They like Spam, for one. It has something to do with the connection to Pearl harbor/WWII. They make it in a variety of ways. My mom said Burger Kings there sell a Spam breakfast sandwich.

Pretty tasty food in my experience. There is a broad diversity of cultures in Hawaii. South Pacific islanders, Japanese, Chinese,White Folk, and others from the mainland, it's a real mixing pot. With that comes a great mix of food and flavors.
The natives love their Luau's, roast pork and poi, lots of fresh fruits. Asian foods of all types, they've got steak houses, some of the best beef is raised on the islands, and yes, McDonald's too. If you can't find something good in Hawaii, you are just not looking.
