Pig Fat....Yucky stuff!

Lard refers to pig fat in both its rendered and unrendered forms. Lard was commonly used in many cuisines as a cooking fat or shortening, or as a spread similar to butter. Its use in contemporary cuisine has diminished because of health concerns posed by its saturated fat content and its often negative image; however, many contemporary cooks and bakers favor it over other fats for select uses. The culinary qualities of lard vary somewhat depending on the part of the pig from which the fat was taken and how the lard was processed. Lard is still commonly used to manufacture soap.

=)

Pig fat. It is sold in a block. In the large supermarkets you find it with the butter and pastry.

Rendered solidified pig fat.

Also, wretched, nutritionally. Avoid! Avoid!

fat

animal fat

its a white solid taht is used to cook/bake/deep fry..
some people use it occasionally because it ends up tasting better than butter and other oils. its made of pig fat, and you cant taste it when it's baked in with something, it's VERY unhealthy, and clogs your arteries. but made sure you know the difference between vegetable fat and lard.
if it says lard it is PIG fat. if it says vegetable lard from vegetable oil which is not as bad but is still not good for you.
i reccomend not using it, as other cooking fat is much less dangerous.

meat fat and it's sold solid.
