Is sushi healthy to eat?!
Answers: Yes, fish are an excellent source of many vitamins & minerals including OMEGA-3 and stuff like that. You also might be asking if sushi is safe to eat, but that varies. I've at sushi my whole life and never got sick from it, but it really depends on the resturant.
yes sushi is very good for you, it is packed with loads of important minerals and vitamins and because it is not cooked all the good stuff is still there. I personally have never eaten sushi but as far as i know sometimes the fish has a few additives such as extra salt etc. so make sure you dont consume too much salt.
yes. even sushi is raw, you should try it. For the western people, it might not taste good, but for asians, it really taste good. The reason I said sushi is healthy is because there are more vitamins than the fried fish. I heard that it has more calcuim, so even it doesn't look good, try it. there are many western sushi lovers i know.
PS: DON'T EVER TRY TO TASTE SUSHI IN UNITED STATES! I NEVER TRIED IT, BUT TASTING IN JAPAN WOULD BE BETTER!
Yes, unless you eat obscene amounts of it. Then I might start to worry about mercury poisoning.
Very healthy - look at Japanese and Alaskan cultures
Remember a few key points:
Only saltwater fish, never freshwater is used for sashimi (sushi is actually the rice).
Your sushi/sashimi should never ever smell like fish
Only trust reputable restaurants
Use wasabi (its not horseraddish like most think - its a cousin of it), it's original intent is to kill trace bacteria if present.
Use pickled ginger for cleansing the pallete between bites
As a general rule yes but there are some exceptions to take into accoung. First the post about Omega 3 are spot on! Helps reduce the chance of cancer and the lean protein is great for the body.
Some Sushi chefs you some mayonaise in their spicy sauces which can add fat and while not good for you does not out weigh the benefits. Some other rolls use tempura and the frying while tasty, I believe, out weighs the the health benefits.
For pregnant woman, some fish, Tuna, Swordfish, and Mackrel, for example have high levels of mercury and bacteria which could prove unhealthy for fetus.
Been all around the world to include, Tokyo, Okinawa, Korea, Hong Kong, SIngapore and I have found no better sushi than here in the states. American Sushi chefs are very creative in pairing fishes and vegetables.
i think so.
yeap... one of the healthiest things because you get a lil bit of starch, meat, and vegies in one bite!!! and most of the times a whole lotta sodium:)
Yes, but not all the time, especially with tuna sushi (tekka maki) because of the mercury.
