My Chicken Chow Mein came without any noodles?!
Does all Chow Mein come with noodles or is it normal for some places not to serve noodles with it? I suppose they could have forgotten the noodles and that was my initial thought but I'm just curious.
Thanks.
Answers: I recently ordered some Chinese from a new restaurant down the street. I've had other dishes from there and everything was always great. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein for the first time from this place and it came without any noodles. It was just the vegetables, chicken and sauce in a container. I was confused because I thought all Chow Mien came with fried noodles. Every place I've ever had it from the noodles came in a separate container from the rest of the dish and you mixed it yourself.

Yes! You are correct!
chicken chow mein definately comes with noodles!
This is how it is suppose to look:

In chinese stir fry, then often stir fry the chicken and vegatables in a wok and the last process is to combine the noodles and stir it all togethar.
It is very likely that its was a mistake and they forgot the noodles! OOPS =p
I would definately mention it to that restaurant the next time I place an order with them!
" Hey.. don't forget my noodles!"
GOOD LUCK!
Yerr i think all chinese do serve with noodles, cos when i have it i always get noodles. So i think they may have just made a mistake and have obviously forgotten them.
Either that's a mistake in the menu or mix up order.
Yes, Chow Mein means (stir) fried noodles.
Go back to the shop and ask them again.
Maybe their English ain't good.
im not chinese but im pretty sure that chow mein is noodles beacuse whenever i order chicken chow mein the lady at my takeaway calls it chicken noodles!!
Seems like they must just have forgotten. Mention it next time you order something from there. I used to order from a local pizza shop and they consistently got my order wrong...I stopped ordering from there. A one time mistake is understandable though.
There are 2 possibilities, one is they plain forgot, which is not impossible in the heat & chaos of a busy Chinese restaurant kitchen. The other is the order-taker made a mistake in hearing your order or the kitchen made a mistake in interpreting the order, so they thought you wanted a stir-fried chicken dish instead of chicken chow mein. For home deliveries, it's probably better to countercheck the food before the delivery guy leaves. Who knows, maybe it's the delivery person who messed up and somewhere someone else was fuming because he/she is on a no-carb diet!
