Making a meal of appetizers or mezethes is a long-standing Greek custom. The basic piece of traditional Greek meals is the one-dish meal casserole - stovetop or oven - vegetable, meat, or seafood which, when served in small quantities may be perfect as a side dish or appetizer. Fruits and vegetables served with the meal are called salads (even veggies like broccoli and boiled greens) and can stand alone as meals on their own. Cookies, paximathakia (similar to biscotti) and cakes can be served with coffee and tea, breakfast, brunch, and as snacks. The famous Greek filled pies (spinach, cheese) work equally well as main and side dishes or appetizers and snacks.

Greek desserts may consist of yogurt drizzled with honey and eaten with fruits, dried fruits or nuts. More elaborate desserts are baklava, kataifi, loukomades....

Sunday meals may find the table overloaded with casseroles, grilled or roasted meat or seafood, two or three salads, dips, breads, cheeses, and olives.

A good side dish or main course would be lemon rice soup.

A regular Greek meal is less structured than appetiser, main , side and dessert and id generally eaten in a family or communal way.

Usually mezze to begin, dolmades, cabbage rolls, dips, olives, octopus etc which remains on the table to pick at through the meal.
Then a meat dish mostly lamb (kleftiko, mousakka) or bbq seafood, with salads and vegetables.
Dessert is mostly fresh fruit. what most people think of as Greek desserts (baklava, kataiff, galaktoboureko) are more usually served with afternoon coffee
