Question: It took me a while but I warm up to it.

Answers: It took me a while but I warm up to it.

I never.

I haven't tried it, but I know it is often used to bulk out a dish, to make it go further.

i saw it on the tv show-how its made. no way im eatin that

A few years back I thought I'd go the Tofu way...Tried to make different dishes with it but they all came out tasting like cooked rubber.

Tofu is actually very good for you. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it. It is very easy to prepare also. Beginner Chinese cooking books or the Internet will turn up many recipes.

TRY EVERYTHING before you decide!!!

Tofu is amazing, there is so much you can do with it. you can fry it wity soy sauce and it is really good, and you can make vegan cheese cake with it and it is REALLY good!

Its in my fridge now but i havnt tried it yet.

No offence, but Westerners usually don't know how to prepare tofu. This has resulted in the misconception that tofu is bland, yucks, a diet food and only unfortunate vegetarians have to eat the stuff. For those who have never tried tofu or had bad experiences with it, their eyes will pop out at the sheer variety of delicious tofu-based dishes in different Asian countries.

As for the person who seems disgusted after watching some TV show on tofu making, I seriously doubt the authenticity of such a show since the process of tofu making is perfectly simple, doesn't involve any yucky ingredients and can even be done at home. I've seen commercial tofu production in ultra-modern, highly sanitised factories that produce tons of top-grade tofu daily that pass the most stringent health & quality checks.

Tofu is certainly not just for vegetarians, plenty of dishes incorporate all kinds of meat & seafood, and there are all kinds of tofu products that boggle the Western mind. Besides savoury tastes, tofu is also found in desserts. Sometimes the simpliest ways are the best: a bowl of sweetened, amazingly silky smooth beancurd and a glass of sweet rich-tasting soyabean milk (nothing like Western-made soy milk) makes a great breakfast, supper or snack.

Tofu is high in iron, calcium, zinc, selenium & also a source of omega-3 fatty acids, great for anyone's health. But people with thyroid problems, gout and kidney or gallbladder problems should avoid tofu. Asians have been eating tofu for a very long time, especially the Chinese & Japanese. It could even be a contributory factor to longevity, as seen in the large numbers of seniors over 100 in Japan who are even strong enough to work in the fields!

tofu is tasteless but very nutritious, it contains protien & flavonoids which is an anti cancer agent.

never did never will my bff adri told me its disguisting

I never have. Never will. After I heard that squishy sound no way....NEVER!!!! lol
