-Rice ( South China ), noodles and white bun ( North China ).
-In a meal, there can be many kinds of meat, not just one like western cuisines' main course. In south part of China like Canton, soups are cooked with meat , bones and vegetables for over 3 hours. They believe long cooked soups are good for health.
-3 main meals per day ( breakfast, lunch, dinner ). Labourers will also have afternoon tea at around 3:30pm and some people like middle night snack before going to bed. They call this meal ' Siu Yeah '.
-Breakfast, for cities in south China like Hong Kong , Macau, kwangchow, is usually consisted of congee, dim sum, many of them now have breakfast like the west , such as toasts, cup of tea or coffee, cornflakes and boiled eggs. People from north will have noodles, fried hot pancakes, white buns etc. As for lunch and dinner, they have a few dishes to go with rice or noodles. There is always a big pot of long cooked soup to serve with dinner for the people in Southern China.
Staples - Rice, Vegetables (leafy greens) and chicken, fish or pork.
Unusal facts -
Fortune cookies were invented in the USA.
KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) is the #1 Fast food chain in China
Meals/day - I don't know.
All meals will have rice.
Breakfast usually consist of rice soup - congee.
Other than that typical meals consists of rice, vegetables and meat.
