And yes. I can eat with chopsticks (over 30 years). I have also lived in Asia for almost ten years. It's pretty hard to explain in words alone, so I offered the vids. It takes practice with picking up various things. When I teach people how to use them, I get them to pick up peas, then rice. Once they can get two peas side by side, then two grains side by side, they pretty much got it down.

Here is a good video which shows picking up two beans. Watch carefully, he only does it once. This is a great way to practice.

My pleasure, and thank you. Just keep at it, you'll get it right. I'm trying to write while holding a pen with chopsticks now, looks like the way I used to write when I was three. Report It

  • This is pretty hard to explain without just showing you, but I'll try. Take one and hold it between your thumb and middle finger. Keep this one stationary (don't move it). Then put the second one on top, balancing it with your forefinger. Use your forefinger to move the top chopstick up and down while the bottom one stays still. Practice makes perfect!

get your finger stable to them

Your hand, in there very carefully, they are fun to use unless you are hungry

    Instructions on Using Chopsticks
    1. Place the first chopstick in the hollow between thumb and index finger and rest its lower end below the first joint of the third finger. This chopstick remains stationary.

    2. Hold the other chopstick between the tips of the index and middle fingers, steady its upper half against the base of the index finger, and use the tips of the thumb to keep it in place.

    3. To pick up things, move the upper chopstick with index and middle fingers.

    4. After a little practice, you will be able to use chopsticks like an expert.

    Good Luck!!!

Bend over and Ill show ya jk but seriously

Hold one with the crook of your index finger and thumb and hold the other like you would a pencil. Move the one that you're holding like a pencil in and out to pick up things.

You simply ask your waiter/waitress for a fork!

one stick in balancing on your pointer finger resting on main knuckle and last knuckle at the end of pointer finger, thumb rests on top, guiding - this is the pivot point. other stick lays in rest area between thumb and pointer, resting on top of 2nd finger, last joint. This is the stationery position. Get in position in both stages, hit the table with the tips of both to get distance the same, and begin the slow process of learning to maneuver. Take your time, it is worth it. When you are good, you can pick up a single grain of cooked rice :-)

    Badly! :-)

I'm with "Lindata"...But i use them in my hair... for a quick "do".

I use them in my garden for identifying seedlings like little protest signs only they just have the title of the plant on them...most of the time (some times I do put stuff to my neighbors on them like "feel free to use these chives but please cut w/ scissors one inch up---don't pull! )

I also use them to clog up my junk drawer bc I think I might use them in the future...

you ly the bottom one on the thumb and make it parrarell with the top which you control with the index finger

hold the 2 chopsticks with the thumb and index finger
hold the middle finger belowthe 2 chopsticks in the between
the rest 2 fingers have 2 be used 4 supportnear the thumb
with the middle finger u can seperate them or bring them together

    try this
