Has anyone heard of an old recipe called beans and sour kraut?!
I know she would cook it all day in a big roaster in the oven.
she would use either cranberry beans or pinto beans, pork, sour kraut, potatoes, a grated carrot, then she would thicken it somehow.
She made it for my dad and his friends, he was irish, my mum was croation. I`m not sure if it might have been an old irish recipe.
Thanks to all who took the time to read this.
If you dont have a recipe, do you know of any sites you could direct me to.
Thanks and have a Happy St Patricks Day!
Answers: This was something my mother would make when we were growing up. My mother developed altzehiemers around 1994 and the disease took her mind very quickly. She never wrote any of her recipes down, and ANY kind of detailed questions only upset her and made her more confused.

My variation on this recipe. I drained and rinsed the kraut. I used hillshire farm little smokies instead of ham. And I did not use any bay leaf.
