wow it's great to hear of someone with the same problem as me. i've had to go to tgi fridays or similar for my birthday with family as my sister wont eat anything basically. glad you are deciding to do what YOU want. it's your day dear.
i think most indians will serve chips, even though it's embarrassing to ask. as well as plain naan breads, and rice.
i think that tandoori chicken is just dry unmarinated chicken, so there is bound to be something. don't worry about it, your bf's fiance going hungry for a few hours is worth it is you have a good time with your family

Most of them will do a steak and chicken dishes, dont worry you'll be ok.

Yes they do (generally)

Try to ease her into it (she doesn't know what she's missing)

Great for sticking to your guns - happy birthday!

Yep they serve other Indian dishes that aren't curry based. Plus sometimes you can get the odd one that does steak n chips/Omlette n chips etc.

Have a good night......and happy birthday :o)

They'd do mild stuff, but no, generally it's just curry. Years ago they sometimes used to do chicken and chips for the grannies, but I think that's a thing of the past now.

you may find one that will oblige - chips/salad/omlettes etc

good to hear u did what u want, i hate people like that thinking they can rule everything.....nice work.

ask her as its ur bday to try something and be open minded.
there are so many mild and non offensive indian foods...... i think the best beginners dish is milk tikka masala with naan bread and rice, and maybe some vegetable samosas. yum. enjoy ur birthday dinner!

Go to the Indian restaurant! There is sure to be something on the menu that everyone will like. And if not, then at least you tried it. Unless your friend is 2 years old then she should act like a grown up and try a new food once in a while!

Ask for double egg and chips!

chips? omlette? what the..?!?!
no restaurant in India serves that!!
its only those which are outside India that do...and I dont even know why....
anyways, we do have "curry" less food...
try fried eggplant pieces with turmeric and salt, or fried fish fillets, or steamed fish fillets with mustard sauce,
and the most popular non-curry Indian food is North Indian food, that "mughlai"....which includes tandoori chicken, reshmi kebab, shammi kebab, sheekh kebab...try the recipes below for a start.....
