Are Smarties Canadian candy?!

Question: I remember eating Smarties as a very young child in the U.K. and I believe they were made by a company called Trebor at that time. The thing is that even if they started as an British candy, these candy companies take each other over so often, Mars, Cadbury, Nestle the original manufacturer doesn't have meaning any more. These days I believe they either make or import Smarties to Canada. If you check the box it will tell you who the current owner of the brand is and it will also tell you whether the Smarties you are eating here today are imported to or manufactured here in Canada.

Not all brands.
