How and when did those nutty but loveable Aussies .........?!
Answers: begin putting fried egg on their hamburgers.
Cant have a burger without lettuce, tomato, onion, grated carrot, pineapple, beetroot, cheese and fried egg,,and if you want the works you also get steak and bacon on it as well !!!
Im an Aussie,,,,cheers !
I imagine it would have been forever. I am in New Zealand and I can remember adding them in the late '60's and if there was someone you didn't like you didn't break the yolk to cook so they would be covered in the runny yolk.
I think we are the only country in the world that adds sliced beetroot.
I may even make your burger more decadent, but try it, it tastes great. The Cook Islanders also add egg and beets to their burgers. Very messy and very good.
Not sure when they started doing this, but a lot of their takeaway places have this commonly as a topping option for their burgers. Also, Outback Steakhouse has fried egg as a topping option on their menu for their burgers. I wonder if it's any good....
A long time, I would say. Personally, I find hamburgers in general kind of odd, but that's just me.
had to be a long long time ago,,,,,,,
The moment we heard about them the improvement began, beetroot, caramelised onions and a fried egg take away the pickles
