Practice everyday. =)

Good luck.

Just try and use the chopstick to pick up your food.

no fast way in takes practice in there

Use them for everything you do. Eating, using computer, driving, going to the toilet, brushing your teeth etc.. You'll have an awkward time of it, but your chopstick handling skills will improve rapidly.

All you got to do, make sure the sticks are parallel. Choose big objects for a start and just practice. Use ur index and middle finger to hold the top stick, and ur thumb for the bottom one. Jus start snapping!! =]

Hold 1st chopstick between the thumb and base of hand-balance /hold with middle fingertip and ring finger-hold 2nd like a pencil. That's the easiest way for me.

Get the ones that give you instructions

to make it easier in the beginning, fold a small piece of paper a couple of times and place it between the 2 chopsticks. wrap a rubber band around it to keep the paper and chopstick in place. ONce you get the hang of using the chopstick when they're attached at the top, try remocing the rubber band and paper and you'll find it a lot easier.

PS. Practice every day!!

First off watch Asian people use chopsticks in restaurants. One of the things non-Asian people do is try to pick up food using chopsticks from a plate sitting on the table, which is extremely difficult. Asians don't eat that way. They hold the food in a bowl under their chins and eat with chopsticks from that position. Much closer to the face and far easier. Eating from a flat plate is what we do and it's dorky looking.
Second, use wooden chopsticks not plastic or ceramic. For a beginner plastic or ceramic chopsticks are a nightmare. Much easier with wooden ones that tend to grip the food.
Third eat food that is easy to pick up in the beginning. Large chunks, food that's not slippery or too wet, or long things like noodles etc.
Fourth practice. But practice is useless if you're holding the sticks wrong in the first place. The chopsticks should be held parallel using the first three fingers. The bottom stick tends to stay stationary while the top one does the moving. Again, watch Asians. If you can get an Asian person to show you even better.
Good luck!

When I taught my boyfriend to use chopsticks I showed him how to hold them correctly then gave him a plate of m&m's to pick up. Its a bit of a joke in our family now thats how we all learnt to use them from picking up m&m's.
