DO you think that nobody eats the traditional English food in this country anymore?!

I make and eat all of the traditional things you mention and more. I also cook foods traditional to other countries. It is VERY rare I eat fast food.

I still eat traditional English food and regularly have all the items you list above. However, I do like Indian and Chinese food and eat them from time to time.

I love shepherds pis and roast beef and regularly cook and eat them. I also enjoy chinese and thai food, I like a bit of variety!

I think our tastes have broadened out as a nation and most of us have become more adventurous in the foods we eat. This was always going to happen with so many people going to increasingly exotic locations for their holidays. Having said all that, I still feel there is room for good solid traditional English food amongst the foreign imports. Certainly, I still enjoy traditional fare just as much as the more exotic dishes. I just love all food.

These sort of foods are still typical here in Yorkshire. We have a sunday roast dinner every sunday and i think most people here do at least once every other 2 weeks, maybe not every sunday. Apple pie is very popular...even mcdonalds now have their very own version of it! Roast ham is one of my favourites if i go out to the pub for a meal...the only thing on your list i dont like is spotted dick!! I think that whether these foods are in decline depends on where you live. I am surrounded by lots of small villages where it is still normal to go to the pub for a meal, but if you live somewhere like leeds there are lots of new restaurants and places like whetherspoons to eat, in more cosmopolitan areas then yes i think they are in decline, but not here!

I disagree totally. I'm 16 and have a roast dinner every sunday, occasionally have shepards pie, sometimes have ham and I love apple pie. ok we all eat chinese, currys mcdonalds etc, but the traditional food all still there.

We eat all the ones you mention, but like to vary it sometimes with a curry or Chinese.
Tonight we are having trout with almonds and potato croquettes, (French), with baby veges.
Tomorrow I shall roast a ham joint with usual accompaniments

I do as much as I can. All of my family still have Sunday roast, my nan makes the best apple pie in the world ever. But I do think we are a dying breed, not many people I know still sit down together for Sunday dinner and if you drive past any Mcdonalds on a Sunday lunch time, it will be packed. It is quite sad but the fast food is a convenience and people are less prepared to take time over preparing meals than they used to be.

Sure I eat fast food, but I'm having gamon with cauliflower cheese and roasties tonight, we have roast dinners at least once a week and shepherds pie rules!!
Also there is nothing better than an English pudding...treacle tart, apple pie, syllabubs, rhubarb crumble, bread and butter pudding...nothing, and I mean, NOTHING beats that

I have all those you have mentioned,just occasionally a homemade curry or sweet and sour chicken from the takeaway finds its way to my table.There are enough mealtimes to accomodate all kinds of food ,so a little of what you fancy does you good.

I cook Cottage pie, Roast dinners with my own made Yorkshire puddins, Bangers and Mash, etc...

English food is great, and like any other country's cuisine if made badly and with poor ingredients it will be rubbish.
